Malivelihood CEO Michael Awolaja detained at London airport for possession of diamonds

Last night, popular Nigerian luxury designer and jewelry maker, Michael ‘Malivelihood’ Awolaja was detained at the airport in London for not declaring the diamonds he had with him which were reportedly worth more than £100,000.



Reports has it that the designer was held in a security room of Hearthrow airport by officials who thought he was smuggling the diamonds found in his bag. During his detention, the businessman reportedly became angry, and asked that they verify his business dealings. He later admitted that he forgot to declare the jewels and it took a while before he completed the necessary documentation.

Speaking with LIB sources, Awolaja said, “I forgot to declare some stuff which made the security people panic. Nothing big though.”

Malivelihood has worked with American celebrities like DJ Khaled, Amber Rose, and Meek Mill, and Nigerian stars like Mike Ezuronye, Phyno and Iyanya.
