Ronaldo celebrates birthday with son in a gym, Neymar also celebrates

Neymar and Ronaldo both contested the 2015 ballon d'Or. Image: ESPNFebruary 5 happens to be a unique day in the world of football as two of the game’s superstars – Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona’s Neymar celebrate their birthdays today.

Portugal captain Ronaldo turns 31 today while his fellow contestant at the 2015 Fifa Ballon d’Or, Neymar celebrates his 24th birthday.

As well as the megastars, there’s also Carlos Tevez, 32, Adnan Januzaj, 21, Patrick Roberts, 19, Vedran Corluka, 30, Gheorghe Hagi, 51, and Rodrigo Palacio, 34, who were born on this day.

Three-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo took to Instagram on Friday to show how he was spending his birthday by working out in a gym with his son, Cristiano Jnr.

Real Madrid also took to Twitter to wish their idol a happy birthday, while his former club Manchester United posted a flashback to his first goal for the club as an 18-year-old.

The Spanish giants will be hoping for a perfect birthday celebration from Ronaldo when they face Granada in La Liga on Sunday as they look to keep up with first-placed Barcelona and second-placed Atletico Madrid.

Fresh off their 7-0 evisceration of Valencia in the Copa del Rey, Barcelona took to Twitter to wish their flambouyant attacker a happy birthday.

Neymar, who gets a waxwork at Madame Tussauds for his birthday, will be hoping to resolve his current contract situation at the club.
