Nigerian Football Association Plan to Sack Super Eagles head coach Sunday Oliseh- Herve Renard or Le Roy to take over

Following Nigeria’s dismal showing at the African Nations Championships in Rwanda (CHAN 2016), there have been concerns regarding the future of Super Eagles head coach Sunday Oliseh.
Bronze medal winners at the 2014 event under then coach Stephen Keshi, the Eagles failed to make it out of the group stage of the 2016 edition, going down limply to Guinea in the final group game.

And rumours are rife that the former Eagles skipper will likely be replaced by one of several foreign coaches who are queuing up for the job, with Claude Le Roy and Herve Renard leading the race.

“Foreign coaches have indicated strong interest to handle Nigeria and even some of them have appointed Nigerian representatives to get them the job,” a source disclosed.

When contacted, spokesman of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ademola Olajire dismissed the stories on Oliseh’s future with the Eagles as “mere speculations”, pointing out that “the relationship between the coach and the NFF is normal”.

However, there are claims the results of AFCON 2017 double header against Egypt in March may very well decide the coach’s future.

Renard, who led Cote d’Ivoire to win the AFCON last year, has long been linked with coaching Nigeria since AFCON 2010 in Angola, while journeyman Le Roy only recently quit as Congo coach.
