95-year-old Esther Nyambura Wachira has been charged with
stealing Sh900,000 in accrued rent for 14 years in Kenya.
Wachira denied the charge and was released on a Sh100,00 cash
bail.
The prosecution told the court that she allegedly committed the
crime between 2000 and 2014 in Nairobi’s Shauri Moyo estate.
Her lawyer, Mr Wangalwa Oudo, told Chief Magistrate Daniel
Ogembo that the grandmother suffers from arthritis, diabetes and hypertension.
The magistrate said her children should clear the cash bail on
her behalf as well as ensure that she is in court whenever she is needed.
Nyambura Wachira’s case is to be allocated one day for hearing.
